What a wonderful experience and opportunity to have 32 years in the Insurance Industry serving our clients, and how equally fortunate I have been to have a business partner, mentor, Father, and friend all wrapped up in one!
Our agency has strived over the years to service our clients as we would want to be serviced and try to give 110% back to them when they need us the most. I guess you could call me "corny" or what my children like to refer to me as "living in the dark ages", but doing the right thing for our clients is very important to me.
I have been blessed with a wonderful family- great hubby, 5 children, 2 grand-children, an adopted Chihuahua and two healthy parents. With not a lot of extra time to spare, I still try to squeak in some reading time, camping, and my passion- antique collecting; although my husband says we'll have to expand the house if it continues!
I have learned many things over the years, but perhaps one of the most important is that "without a great staff" to carry out the "Above all in Service" we profess, we are just one of many. I am so grateful and proud of my extended family, my staff, and the contributions that each one bring. Please take the time to meet each one!
Robert Van Schaik, Founder
Founder of Robert Van Schaik Agency, Inc. in 1958, he is known by many names, Bob, Mr. V, Dad, Grandpop, Great Grandpop, and even Mr. Erie! Starting the agency by writing his parents home and auto policies, the agency has grown to over 4,000 policies. He gives credit of our success to our long time policyholders.
Still coming into the agency almost everyday, he enjoys working with the farmers selling and servicing both farm policies and crop insurance. Taking time now and then to enjoy his many interests such as woodworking, antiques, and art, he is also known to be quite a history buff! A father of 11, grandfather of 20, and great grandfather of 7, he would be the first to tell you how wonderfully he has been blessed. Getting "younger" every year, and still going strong...Mr. V.
Brittyn Honeman, Principal-Agent/Partner
We are excited to introduce, Brittyn Honeman, as our newest partner of the Schauber Van-Schaik Insurance Group, Inc.
Daughter and grand-daughter of the current owners, Brittyn brings ten years of Insurance experience and a young energetic appeal.
She is tech savvy and is ready for all our current and future internet shoppers! While she understands the younger generation’s wants and needs-make no mistake, she knows “old fashion service” is what has made our agency a success.
Being brought into the office by her Mom since infancy, she jokes that most of our current employees, were once her babysitters!
Brittyn is an exercise enthusiast, who enjoys boating, traveling and spending time with family.
Martha Dail, Bilingual Agent & CSR
Bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in the insurance industry, Martha joined our SVS team in March of 2018. With 25 years as a Nationwide Agent and Office Manager for Larry Dail Insurance, let’s just say Martha knows a thing or two…
Martha holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish and minor in Business Administration from Salisbury University. She is dedicated to her role as an agent and making sure that her clients have a true understanding of their insurance coverage. Her honesty, fairness and commitment to helping others are exactly what we stand for as an agency and we are proud to have her a part of our team.
Martha spends most of her free time with her family including her two children and grandson Sully. She also enjoys community involvement, staying physically active, and is a lover of animals.
Linda Harrison, Commercial Lines Manager
Well, where did 30 years go? Just ask Linda, as she has been with us every step of the way over the past 30 years. A dedicated, loyal, employee who has pretty much seen it all and done it all. Linda has grown with our agency, trained new employees, serviced personal lines, commercial lines, even worked with our farm accounts.
Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, Linda's roots are ingrained with Christian values and beliefs. Linda maintains a wealth of knowledge within the Agency and has the memory of an elephant! She is the #1 go to person to help us all remember!
Jason Howie, Commercial Lines Agent/Inspector
Jason began his Insurance Career as our Home Inspector and has since grown into both a Personal and Commercial Lines Producer.
He is always ready to be of service at a moments notice or willing
to tackle a new problem head-on ...possibly a remnant of his past football days!
Jason feels "trust and fairness" are important factors when building his client relationships. Now applying his knowledge to all areas of Insurance, he enjoys meeting with his clients and educating them so that they can make good decisions.
Melissa Miranda, Personal Lines Agent
Melissa first started as a receptionist and was dedicated to advancing her career in the insurance industry by obtaining her insurance license. She achieved her goal within a year and in March of 2016 came aboard our SVS team. Now with two years’ experience as a licensed agent Melissa strives to put her clients’ needs first by providing them with excellent customer service. She also enjoys giving back to the community by participating in local programs and events.
Melissa is a proud mother of three girls who occupy most of her free time- that and her extreme couponing… she sure knows where to get the best bang for her buck!
Jennifer Lippa, Agent & CSR
After recently moving to Centreville, Maryland Jennifer came to us looking for an opportunity closer to home. We soon realized that her warm disposition and passion for helping others would make her a great addition to our SVS Team!
In addition to sharing our agency philosophy, she also brings a background with Erie Insurance and 18 years of customer service experience. She currently holds her Maryland property and casualty and life and health license and is a Notary Public for the State of Maryland.
In her free time, Jennifer enjoys reading and spending time with her 2 sons, Cole and Ethan, her husband Scott, and their dog Thor.
Sara Bailey, Personal & Commercial Lines Agent
They say timing is everything… well in Sara’s case this couldn’t be more true! Literally the same day we had an unexpected position open up, Sara contacted us inquiring about a job. We interviewed Sara the following week and knew immediately that things were just meant to be!
Seeking a position that was closer to home and an opportunity to advance in her career, Sara joined our SVS team in October of 2017. She currently has 4 years’ experience in the insurance industry, working two years in the health care field and two years as a licensed P&C agent. Sara also has an associate’s degree in liberal arts as well as a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and 5 years of customer service and sales experience. Sara has what we like to call the three D’s to success- she is dedicated, driven and determined to reach her goals!
In her spare time Sara enjoys traveling, spending time with family and being a dog mom to her growing doggie family.
Aaron Reyes, Bilingual Agent & CSR
We knew right away that Aaron’s genuine nature and authenticity would be a great addition to our SVS customer service team. Joining us in October of 2017, Aaron brings with him a strong work ethic and fervent desire to learn the insurance business. He has over 10 years’ experience as a trained Medical and Interpreter as well as an associate’s degree from Chesapeake College and a bachelors in biblical studies from Lancaster Bible College. He is originally from Los Angeles, California but moved to Maryland in 2001 and has since lived on the Eastern Shore.
In his free time you will find Aaron hiking or camping as he enjoys his love for the outdoors. He also enjoys basketball, shopping and cooking and is an avid reader of history and apologetics.
Denise Staehli, Crop Insurance Specialist
Mr. V's right hand girl, Denise works with our farm clients selling both farm and crop coverage. Denise enjoys working our farm clients, always greeting them with a smile and a pleasant attitude. She believes that there is always good in everyone and strives to treat everyone as she would want to be treated.
You can hear her coming with her well known giggle, and she lights up when you ask about her family, especially her granddaughter, Kara. Denise strives to be a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and is an employee who jumps in to help the office tick!
Rebecca Ashe, Personal Lines Specialist
Becky’s vibrant personality and sales drive has proven to be a great addition to our Schauber-Van Schaik team. She is passionate about the products our agency offers and does her best to make sure each client has been educated on the coverages available based on their individual need. Becky has four years’ experience in the insurance industry and is eager to continue learning and expand upon her overall knowledge.
In her spare time, Becky stays busy with her very active teenage son who participates in several sports teams. Anyone who knows her knows that she is a huge fan of the football season and cheering on her favorite team the Denver Broncos.
Liz joined our agency in 2006 to pursue an outside sales position. She brought with her 18 years of insurance experience, as she was a previous employee of the Erie Insurance Group. Liz holds a CIC designation, Certified Insurance Counselor, and she enjoys reviewing coverages with our clients, not only to make sure they are adequate but also to assure the client we are sensitive to keeping premiums reasonable.
Liz's strength is her personal service as she is not only available 24/7, she makes house calls! Liz is one of a kind with a heart of gold, who always tries to help anyone in need. Walking in her father's footsteps, she always tries to do the right thing even in the face of adversity. Living by the motto "Be the brightest bulb in whatever you do", you may find her at her home on Smith Island, playing with her dog, Finnegan, or out riding her "freedom bike"!!
Mary Wilson, Life Insurance Specialist
Consistant, loyal, positive and the first to volunteer to get a job done, that's Mary.......so organized, her life is in her planner!
Always going above and beyond to meet her client's needs, Mary takes on her most challenging situations head-on. A creative lady with many personal interests and "unique ideas", she is always up for a "new" plan! Mary lives by the motto "Be Where You Are" and would pass these words of wisdom along, as she feels they would benefit anyone.
Family, faith and friends are the center of her life and she strives to set an example daily at both home and work.
